I was working with an EFT client, Margaret, for an ongoing period and in each consultation we were making progress. We found some core issues relating to the presenting issue, but when Margaret returned normally 2-3 weeks later she would present in the same disempowered way and reciting the same issues. After having a discussion within supervision, I asked Margaret if she was a twin and it turns out that she is. So for the next session we worked on a lot of relationship issues to do with her being a twin and also cut any energetic ties with her twin. Now this does not mean that she will never see her again, it simply means the relationship is reformed on a new level and this is exactly what happened. Not long after the session, her twin reached out to her for the very first time in a long time. I felt that it was some of the twin’s issues that we had been working with also.
I was working with another client, Lucy, who was in quite a rut and hiding away from the world. She had a lovely family, but felt like crying all the time and could not work out what was wrong and why she was feeling so depressed. We worked on a variety of issues, such as her fear of flying (loss of control was beneath this), and we worked on a financial decision that she had made and had regretted immensely. We also worked on several childhood issues around an emotionally abusive grandmother, but there continued to be an overriding feeling of depression, tearfulness and being stuck. Lucy also saw a doctor and was diagnosed with depression and was given a prescription for anti depressants.
In one of the sessions Lucy had mentioned that she had received a healing some time ago and that it was indicated that she was a twin and her twin had died in the womb. She had no actual proof of this, although her mother had told her that she always cried when left alone as a baby and as a child she had been fascinated by twins and had wished she had a twin sister. So I suggested for this session that we would pretend that being a twin was true and we did a lot of tapping around feeling abandoned, angry that she never stayed (the twin), sadness and grief for what could have been, missing out on the opportunity to have a sister, and also energetically cut the ties. Whenever she had previously talked about the twin, Lucy felt extremely tearful and there were also very real emotions present throughout the session. This was a huge turning point for Lucy and the difference was incredible. It took about a month of healing to process all this, then Lucy was off signing up for many things that she had always wanted to do and felt very excited about life and where she was heading. We have had a follow up session regarding her family and grandmother, but now the strong emotions and thought patterns seem to have dissipated and there is no sign of depression. Lucy said it felt like a switch had physically flipped in her head and she now feels and thinks differently.
